Fees

My legal fees for WCB and WCAT appeal cases generally

How to Hire Me

The starting point is scheduling a consultation with me.

I receive many calls every day. I wish we could offer free consultations for everyone, but I simply can’t. If you would like to explore your WCB options or simply would like some direction with your BC WCB matter, you can schedule a consultation with me which costs $95 plus taxes per half hour.

During your consultation, I do our best to inform you about your options, provide a quote for hiring me and/or give you direction so you can pursue your WCB matter on your own. In some cases, I may need to do additional research and/or review documents in order to give you direction and opinions. If that’s the case I’ll let you know. That said, I’m usually able to provide direction from a single consultation.

Anywhere in BC

I offer telephone consultations if getting to my office isn’t possible.

Reviewing Documents Before a Consultation

I’m also happy to review documents such as WorkSafeBC decisions before a consultation. However, I charge a consultation fee to do this. For complex cases, this gives me an opportunity to better inform you of your options once we do have the consultation.

If you would like to schedule a consultation, just fill in the Contact form (the white one) below and to the right or call us toll free at 1.877.753-4793.

Legal Fees

1. Full Hire

The following is to give you an idea of my legal fee structure if, after a consultation, you wish to hire me.

a. Hourly Fee

My usual legal fee is charged hourly. You can ask me to help with some or all of your WCB matter. It’s up to you.

b. Contingency Fee

In some cases I’ll take your case on a contingency fee basis. This means my fee is a percentage of money you obtain from my involvement. In other cases, I may do a combination of a reduced hourly fee and reduced contingency fee.

c. Flat Rate Fee

One final fee arrangement may be a flat fee. Again, the amount and whether I offer this option is case-specific.

Please note that I reserve the right to choose the legal fee arrangement. I determine fees on a case-by-case basis.

No matter where you live, I can help with your case as long as it’s a British Columbia WCB matter.

2. Per-Consult Basis

I’m also able to provide a decent amount of direction with just one half-hour consultation. If hiring me for your entire matter is not possible, hire me on a per-consult basis charged by the half hour ($95 per half hour). I know the issues and can often give you great advice with your claim over a half hour consultation. It helps me to help you if you bring in the decisions you’re appealing.

I welcome multiple consultations as you prepare and pursue your claim. Note, however, that the per-consult basis does not mean you’ve hired me.

3. Get the WCB Legal Kit

For people who can’t hire me, but are prepared to do their own claim and wish to get some blueprints and written direction for filing and appealing WCB claims – there’s the BC Workers’ Compensation Legal Kit. Click here to learn more about how this kit can help with your WCB matter.

Call Me Today

If you’ve been injured at work and your WCB claim is denied, contact me today toll free at 1.855-854-2086 and schedule a consultation to see what your options are.

If you’re not happy with any WCB decision, be sure to pay attention to the appeal deadlines in the decision letter. Don’t wait to take action – you don’t want to miss your appeal deadline.

Don’t give up your claim and appeal just because a decision letter says something if you don’t believe it to be right. Appeals are often won. Talk to me to learn what you can do and what your options are about your WorkSafeBC and WCB in BC appeal matter.
